26 to 31 Dec 2008 - Bangkok Holiday

Long awaited getaway from Singapore & Work.. Photo taking at the Budget Terminal before we board the tiger airline flight to Bangkok.
1st Day (26 Dec 08) Reached BKK airport at around 8:30 (Singapore time). Took a cab to our hotel then went out to grab some food. Dear ate all the street food which I find quite hard to swallow because I'm not used to the taste. Found a porridge stall.. & shared a bowl with Dear. Adding some seasoning and the porridge was yummy. :)2nd Day (27 Dec 08) At the BTS (skytrain) to Chatuchak weekend market. Dear told me a story about the railway tracks. He said in singapore there's 4 tracks, 2 are for the train, 2 for war time to convert to transport system. Don't really understand the details.. well.. some general knowledge to share.
Pets section at Chatuchak.. Dear says the dogs are cute! This is a horror & nightmare place for me. I m scared of dogs & cats & all creatures that move.
After Chatuchak, we went to Nana Square, where my colleague recommended to make guys suit. However, the prices were too expensive & we left. After that we went Zen Shopping Mall & Platinum Mall. There's a tailor shop near Platinum Mall & Central World which price was moderate. Therefore, dear made a suit there while I made a long sleeve top. Dear achieved his goal to make a suit in BKK. *grinz*

After our late movie (Australia), we were greeted by lotsa partying outside the shopping malls. The pple there party every single night we were there.. even on weekdays! *amazed*
3rd Day (28 Dec 08) Morning was spent at Chatuchak Weekend Market again.. we didn't buy much stuff today coz we bought most of our stuff yesterday. After walking for about 2 hrs, we left for Chinatown!!! Took a Tuk-tuk there.. our 1st time sitting a Tuk-tuk.. Dear asked Tuk-tuk driver to drive carefully.. coz they can be reckless at times & we don't wanna risk our dear lives. I think it quite a memorable experience. I won't sit on a tuk-tuk again.. so this experience will be a memory for me.
Eating our Bird Nest.. which we searched high n low for. Recommended by my colleague (Wendy, who passed me lotsa bkk maps & printed lotsa bkk food places for me when I told her I going bkk), I was determined to find Bird Nest in Chinatown.. n I didn't wanna leave till I find it. Finally I found 1 restaurant serving it.. so we went in.. affordable at around 8 dollars for 1 bowl. *sweet* Dear & I ate a bowl each, served with red dates, longans & ginko nuts. We were the only customers in the big restaurant.. haha.. wonder why? The bird nest was alright, and I would definitely recommend others to go there. Restaurant was Clean, with Air Con, Spacious, and Good Service.
After eating the bird nest & buying pork floss stuff to bring home, we took a cab to Central World. Traffic jam was bad.. n I took a long nap in the cab while Dear was having a terrible time with the traffic & the taxi driver.

Dinner at Central World (Fuji Restaurant) - Read alot about this restaurant from numerous blogs so was very excited to try it out. However, I was quite disappointed with the food & service. The food was alright.. not v fantastic.. the service was not that good because we don't have free flow of hot green tea! We ordered 2 cups n the cups were really pathetic.. subsequent cups need to order n pay again. Nonetheless, the ambiene was quite good with the light that changes colour and they have bamboos too.

Our food.. hee.. I ordered the bento set while Dear ordered the sushi set.. then we share.. haha.. I ate alot!!!! Dear ate alot too! *notice the !!!! means I really eat alot.. hee..*

4th Day (29 Dec 08) Woke up early in the morning, ate breakfast at the hotel & headed to the Grand Palace for our tour. We had a personal tour guide cum "photographer". Hee.. v informative tour & we managed to catch the matching in parade. However, the Emerald Buddha tour was kinda disappointing because I expected to see a big buddha statue but it was only about 50cm tall. After our tour, the tour guide brought us to this jewellery factory which I bought some souvenirs.

Went back to hotel to change, rest. Then changed into shorts (BKK weather is still hot even though it's their Winter Season), and headed to the A&W near our hotel for Lunch. It's been ages since I last ate A&W meal!!! Simple delicious! Dear is so hungry that he ate 2 meals (2 root beer float)!!!! *amazed* haha.. actually I shared with him the 3rd meal (Wafer Ice Cream + Curly Fries + Root Beer Float) just that he finished the whole float.

High Tea at Whittard of Chelsea. Nice place to just sit down, relax, drink tea & eat cake. The sofa is so comfy.. *peace*
Waited at Whittard for about 1hr for the night market across the street to open.. then we went there to walk for awhile.. but found it quite boring.. so we left for MBK.
Dinner at MBK (Sizzler). This is the only decent photo which Dear took. The rest are my ugly eating expressions. Cannot upload if not will spoil my image.. haha.. =pEnded the day with watching Madagascar 2 at MBK. Photo taking with the posters before the show. Dear with Yes Man (which we caught on Monday coz BKK don't have this show). Me with Madagascar 2. During the show, we were so tired that we fell asleep at some pt. After the show, we took a cab back & I fell asleep immediately after bathing while Dear watch his soccer on TV I think. Haha.. too tired from the numerous packed activities.
5th Day (30 Dec 08) Started the day by going down to the Tailor to alter Dear's suit for the 2nd time. Then made our way to Spa Buri for our Spa!!! It's the 1st time I go SPA!!!! Really enjoyed myself. Keen to go for my 2nd n 3rd n so on.. hee.. Spa is really relaxing. For more details on this Spa, u can visit their website: http://www.spaburi.com/promo.html

After our v long 2 n 1/2 hr Spa session, we took at cab down to MBK & had lunch at Ajisen. This is my Ramen. *delicious*

After lunch, shopped around.. then walked from MBK to Siam Discovery, then Siam Paragon & took pictures with the Christmas Trees along the way.

Dinner at Central World (Manhattan) - Sipping my apple juice while waiting for our Seafood Platter for 2 to arrive. Smiling sweetly before I realize my handbag is lost!!! I m so forgetful.. left my handbag at MBK's toilet. Sighz.. after I realize, it's too late & frustration doesn't help. Thankfully Dear still have enough money to pay for the meal.. which to me was v ex suddenly. Suddenly I had to be v mindful in my spendings.. suddenly every dollar counts. Although I still have cards & some sing dollars in the hotel, didn't wanna use them.

6th Day (31 Dec 08) Luckily we still had enough money to last us to the airport & ate R-burger at the airport before flying back. On the airplane back.. Home Sweet Home.

p/s: I ate sooooooo much throughout the trip, I think I put on another 5kg! OMG! *Fatty is growing fatter!*

hahaha omg amazing how u can blog so many days events in ONE entry! looks like u n chris enjoyed urselves for e bkk trip. look so xinfu! :)
